Extruded Right L45 Disc.

Case 9

Age: 59

Sex: Male

History: Low back pain for 10 years. Radiating down right leg for 6 months. Difficulty walking for 3 weeks. No bladder or bowel problems.


Examination:

Examination showed moderate discomfort. SLR of 60 degrees on right side and 80 degrees on the left. Generally areflexic. Decreased sensation left L5 dermatome.


Pre-op X-Rays

CT of Lumbosacral spine showing an extruded disc material behind L5 (likely from L45 disc space) on the right side.


Treatment:

Surgery. The extruded disc was in the axilla of right L4 root.
